Camping with Henry - Douglas County Lake

Finished up a camp out with Henry today. Picked him up yesterday afternoon and went out to Cedar Hill Gun Club to look at the shooting. We took a look at Douglas County Fishing Lake near Baldwin City and decided to come back to set up the camper after a supply run at Baldwin City Market. We stocked up on Lunchables, yogurt, Cheezits and other essentials.

Our camping spot along the main road overlooked the lake where a hiking trail took us on an exploration of the nearby cedar thicket where we learned about “leave no trace”. Henry discovered a burnt up old metal fork and a small piece of rope, it was decided that these items were treasure and had to be kept in a special drawer in the camper. We played a cribbage board game and three different matching games in the camper, ate some lunch and had a rest. Later we explored another area of the park, Henry’s trail arrows made of sticks helped us find our way to the camper. We decided to pack up and check out Lone Star Lake Campground. We stopped for a burger and slushee in Baldwin on the way. The campground was packed so we surprised Nan and Olivia at our house, Henry sneaking in the side door, voice disguised as an old man. We set up the camper in the dove field where we finished out the trip. Some stories and sleep then it was morning.

We headed over to the hot tub where Olivia joined us. Later, Olivia and I took Bumby to the camper nd played some games before a swim and ride home. 24 hors of fun.
