The Preserve Pond
This spring we started paying attention to the pond on our property. There have been a couple of pairs of Wood Ducks and a small flock of Bluewing Teal using the secluded pocket of water. Sonya and I installed a Wood Duck Box and a camera to monitor the activity. So far nothing using the nesting box, I think it may have spooked the ducks away.
Jack Smith and I spent a couple of nights camping at the land, testing equipment and catching up on life after a long dry spell of adventuring. We took a hike into the pond with our spinning rods. Jack struck first with a 6 inch Bluegill on a worm and bobber. In all we caught a twenty or so, a few that were fat and scrappy. Jack landed a small Largemouth Bass, so it is at least a two species fishery.
I have done some work clearing trails and a camping spot. I have enjoyed working on the pond and plan to take the grandkids out for a fishing trip on Mothers Day.
